4 days focused on images,
technique, inspiration, and composition
Photocamp Budapest is aimed at both beginners and experienced photographers.
WARREN RICHARDSON(World Press Photographer of the Year 2016)
and LARS-HENRIK MILERT are the instructors for this workshop.
Warren has extensive experience as a photojournalist and specializes in documenting war, addiction, and street photography.
Lars-Henrik has a broad photographic background, including work as store manager for Japan Photo (Drammen, Norway), running photographic workshops, and exhibiting in Norway and abroad, and are publishing his first book October '25. He has a versatile range of subjects and has spent the past 30 years working actively with nude art photography.
Whether you use a compact or a system camera, you’ll find this workshop both enjoyable and rewarding. We focus on technique, composition, subject selection,
and—most importantly—mutual inspiration.
Warren teaches in English. Lats-Henrik usually teach in a mix of Danish and Norwegian but can also teach in both English and German.
There will be a maximum of 6 participants per workshop.
During parts of the workshop, participants will be divided into two groups to
ensure that the instructors have ample time for everyone.
Why We Chose Budapest
We have both followed the city’s development over many years and have taken thousands of photos here. Lars-Henrik has been running workshops a couple of times a year since 2019 (only interrupted by COVID) and has built a broad network in the city.
Warren has lived in Budapest for many years and knows the city like the back of his hand. His deep knowledge of the city greatly benefits our workshop participants.
The workshop is based in Budapest for several reasons, including:
It’s easy to get to Budapest by both plane and train.
The city has a rich history and offers countless photographic opportunities.
It has a well-developed public transport system.
It’s an exciting (and affordable) city that can easily be combined with a few extra days before or after the workshop—making it a complete city break.

Course Format
Both Warren and Lars-Henrik are experienced instructors with many years of practice in sharing knowledge and creativity.
We are both hands-onin our teaching approach and spend our time actively out on the streets — not in a classroom.
Our philosophy is that you learn best through practice. During our photo walks, we explore and discover subjects, take the photos, and then discuss both the results and the techniques behind them.
We are convinced that this is the best and most effective way to learn.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT
All types of cameras are welcome, from compact to system cameras. Even if you only have a mobile phone, you will still enjoy the workshop.
It is not necessary to bring heavy equipment; a standard zoom lens in the 24–70mm range (approx.) is more than enough. For night or evening photography, a tripod is recommended.
A small backpack to carry your tripod, water, and a snack is also a good idea.

The most convenient way to reach Budapest is by plane.
From the airport, you can take a taxi, Bolt/Uber, or bus:
There are many good hotels in Budapest. Personally, I always rent a furnished apartment through this company:
Home in Budapest(I’ve been using them for over 15 years).
They are a couple managing around 59 apartments. You can email them at homeinbp@gmail.com— feel free to mention that you were referred by Lars-Henrik Milert.
We are also happy to assist with making contact if needed.

...an unforgettable workshop..
"Thank you for an unforgettable workshop in Budapest. Rarely have we met someone who shares their knowledge as generously as photographer Milert. This applies not only to photography—technical, creative, and historical—but also to Budapest and Hungary, where Milert’s insight goes far beyond what one would expect.
We would be happy to join another workshop! :-)
Best regards,
Pål
I’ve been taking pictures since I was six years old, got my first SLR camera at twelve, and have taken hundreds of thousands of photos since then.
I have extensive experience from both the analog and digital worlds of photography. I’ve spent countless hours in a traditional darkroom and today I actively use both Lightroom and Photoshop in my work.
I’ve held several solo exhibitions in Norway and abroad and have my own spacious photo studio (130 m²).
Many people probably remember me from my years at Japan Photo, where I observed a strong demand for personal guidance — something I’ve carried with me into my workshop work today.

environmental issues, as well as assignments for newspapers, magazines and companies. He has lived
in Asia, the USA and Europe and the Middle East, and during a period in the UK and US he worked in
celebrity photography. He is currently working on the project to do with homelessness and the layers
that intertwine between addiction and self-worthlessness that stems from trauma. He lives by the prov erb that says: “We have not inherited the land from our fathers, we have borrowed it from our children.”

Day 1:We meet at 14:00 at a café in the city center to get to know each other. Afterwards, we take an introductory walkthrough the city, where we assess each participant’s photographic skills.
Day 2:In Budapest, we split into two groups. Lars-Henrik leads a tour in the city center, while Warren takes his group to the 8th district. After lunch, the groups switch, continuing the day with inspiration and exciting photo opportunities.
Day 3:Not just a random outing — we take a train to Győr, about 1.5 hours from Budapest. Here we explore, among other things, Napoleon’s House. Győr is full of history and interesting architecture, providing opportunities to capture light and shadows in narrow alleys or a street musician in the square. Time is allocated for lunch, and in the afternoon we return by train to Budapest.
Day 2 or 3:A night shoot is arranged in the city center.
Day 4:Time for a recap at the Base Camp and a final photo walk in the city before saying goodbye to those not joining the Nude Art add-on in the photo studio.
